What is Epicrest?
Epicrest is an iOS mountain companion for identifying peaks, exploring nearby summits, planning access, preparing offline peak data, and keeping a private summit record.
Is Epicrest available on Android?
Epicrest is launching first on the App Store and will be available on Android in the future. The current release is focused on iOS camera, location, StoreKit, Keychain, and iCloud workflows.
Is Epicrest free?
Yes. Epicrest Free includes core peak discovery, AR labels, unlimited summit logs, iCloud Sync where available, no ads, and 10-mile offline packs. Epicrest Pro is optional and adds expanded planning, offline, map, weather, journal photo, stats, and export tools.
Does the app work without service?
Core offline behavior depends on the data you prepare before a trip. Offline peak packs are designed for low-connectivity terrain.
Where are journal photos stored?
Photos are not uploaded to the Epicrest backend. They stay on device and can sync through your private iCloud container.
Can I rely on it for emergency navigation?
No. Epicrest is an informational tool. Carry proper maps, navigation equipment, emergency gear, and check authoritative local conditions.
